Only a Beat

See, her love like fire
Spreading across my barren land.
Untouched for so long,
By a woman’s longing hand.

See, how my eyes follow her,
How my fingers dance and my heart swells,
For it is bursting with all the things
My feeble pride would dare tell.

See, an exquisite woman,
Tall and silky, still -
My legs of stone tremble —
She is like a whip to the human will

What mountains must be traversed, I ask,
Of the night and milky stars,
What flimsy bridges must I cross,
To have only a beat of her heart?
